"Autumn & Winter wellbeing warmers"
Step off the street from Potternewton Lane - Chapel Allerton, and you enter the welcoming world of Inkwell Arts. A space perfectly crafted for the community is also home to the newly re-furbed Inkwell Arts Café - a quirky, sleek and wholly vegetarian bistro just waiting to be discovered.
We headed down for day 1 of the new Autumn/Winter menu in October to unearth the hidden gems of this wellbeing venue.
Previously The Shoulder of Mutton Pub, Inkwell Arts & Inkwell Arts Cafe has transformed itself through its incredible ambitions to support and provide space for individuals of all abilities on the road to recovery from mental health issues.
As a Leeds Mind Service you will find everything from Arts & Crafts projects, referral & support classes & a bustling café space open to the public Tuesday - Saturday every week.
Headed up by a devoted team - Mark Cruse, Anna Ridley, Bev Rhodes & Amanda Burton - Inkwell Arts Café is also supported by a committed squad of volunteers who are all on individual and inspiring journeys throwing their passions in to the café and their recovery.
If you are looking for a amiable and chilled vibe atmosphere then head down to Inkwell Arts and support this fantastic concept.
The Menus: "You are what you eat"
From full English Breakfasts served all day, to comfort food lunch dishes that are aimed to fill you up. All have been designed with Inkwells ethos and the mind at heart. Whether that's suffering from erratic sleep patterns, or needing that accessible winter warmer, then this menu has been perfectly crafted.
Served up with style by Head Chef Bev, vegan options are also available across most of the menu. The Inkwell Arts Cafe breakfasts come with all the works including a tea or a coffee for 6.95!
Check out this Tofu Mayo Sandwich, nestled in with bistro & micro greens and pickled vegetables. A sublime light and juicy afternoon filler.
Did anyone say Tacos!? Oh yes! These delicious Tacos come with home made spelt tortillas - generously filled with split pea chilli and cheddar cheese (vegan cheese also available)
These had a lovely edge to them with the crunch of pickled vegetables adding an extra kick.
Inkwell Arts Cafe is the only place you will find one of these in Chapel Allerton: The Black Forest Hot Chocolate.
Beautifully whipped oozing with a sweet flavour to wash down brekki or lunch- you have to give one of these a try!
Don't stop there!
We couldn't resist getting involved in the mahooosive Blackberry coated Victoria Sponge cake that came out freshly made during our visit. Dreamlike cream coating- dripping with sustainably sourced and foraged blackberries.
What does your schedule look like next week!? Inkwell Arts Cafe is waiting for you to try its delights and find out more about the fantastic work that is undertaken here.
Inkwell is a truly under spoken haven for mental health awareness and support in the fantastic suburb of Chapel Allerton, offering a well thought out quality menu, workshops, music events and a chilled space open for all including the family.
We can't wait to support Inkwell and their ongoing growth and success- Thank you for all you do in the area!
